The annual bazaar also features educational programs, discussions about history with local authors, and documentary films about the hidden stories of L.A.'s diverse communities. Constitution Day Observance
Federal legislation and a Presidential Proclamation in May, 2005 require that schools hold educational programs and activities in observance of Constitution Day during the two-week window surrounding September 17 each year. Each school will be required to certify that activities to observe Constitution Day were held during this specified window of time.

Attached is Memorandum 4860.0 to assist you in planning activities to observe Constitution Day. Please complete the observance checklist (Attachment A) and send it to the person designated to handle History/Social Science in your respective Local District Office no later than October 2, 2009.
